w00tstock presents and Geek-A-Week trading cards

Geek-A-Week One of the coolest things I have purchased this year (and it’s only just March!) is the first pack of Len Peralta‘s Geek-A-Week trading cards. The ones pictured are the cards I got at the Comic-Con w00tstock last July.

I adore Len Peralta’s style, because it’s just comic booky enough to make me smile without pushing people who aren’t into comic books out. Plus he’s fantastically fast and consistent. And the Geek-A-Week cards provide yet another artifact for my obsessive collector to hoard.

ThinkGeek is currently the only place you can pick up pack 1. And they’re only planning on selling the ones that have already been printed, so you should go buy one. Or two. No seriously, have you bought yours yet? Then we can geek out over the clean lines of the head in Jonathan Coulton’s hand.

pirate wife's lament (better picture)

This is one of my favorite pictures from w00tstock in San Diego. It has the w00tsotck core performing one of my very favorite songs by Paul and Storm, “The Captain’s Wife’s Lament”. And some of them are coming to Los Angeles at the end of March!

I already have my tickets to see Wil Wheaton vs. Paul and Storm at Largo. I’m asking to leave early that day from work, and I’m thinking of what panties would be funniest to throw on stage (if I get a close enough seat) (Also, that last statement makes more sense if you’ve ever heard “Opening Band” by Paul and Storm).

I never have any idea of what will happen at any show put on by Wil Wheaton or Paul and Storm, but less so when they perform together. Laughing until my stomach hurts is generally guaranteed. And I can really use a good time, so I can hardly wait for the end of March.

If you’re in the LA area, and you don’t have tickets yet, you must not enjoy laughing as much as I do. If you do, then you should absolutely immediately get tickets. It’ll be a hoot!
